Jay-Z and Cannabis

Before Jay-Z become a successful rapper he was dealing with drugs in Brooklyn’s Marcy Project. And now he entered into a long-term relationship with Caliva, one of the largest, vertically integrated cannabis companies in California.

Rapper, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, spent a lot of time surveying the market for a like-minded collaborator in the cannabis space before choosing Caliva as a prime partner.

What he will be doing?

Jay-Z is a Chief Brand Strategist for the Caliva. The rapper will play a crucial role in driving creative direction, outreach efforts, and strategy for the brand. And he will focus on increasing the economic participation of citizens returning from being in jail. They will get job training, and overall employee and workforce development.

Rapper told that he wants to do everything correctly and at the highest level. With Caliva they want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.

What does Caliva think about Jay-Z as a partner?

Caliva grew its revenues by 350% employing over 600 workers, despite California’s cannabis economy shrinking by 17%.

President of Caliva Dennis O’Malley told that it is humbling that Jay-Z seeks out them as a partner. They were in complete alignment with their values and ethos. Dennis told that they are pleased to be working with him and have him as their Chief Brand Strategist.

A lot of other musicians have teamed up with the cannabis industry. Such as Snoop Dogg, the late Bob Marley, Willie Nelson, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Freddie Gibbs, Juicy Jay, The Game, Ghostface Killah, and System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian.

Gene Simmons was recently named a Brand Ambassador for Canadian cannabis company Invictus, and he claimed that he has changed his views on the plant.
