Larry Page was born on March 26, 1973, in Lansing, Michigan, USA, to a family of teachers: Carl Victor Page Sr., professor of computer science at the University of Michigan, received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Michigan in 1965 when he has created the discipline of computer science, described by BBC reporter Will Smale as “a pioneer in network science and artificial intellect”; and Gloria Page, educator of programming at Lyman Briggs University and College.
Computers first came to Page’s attention when he was six years old, so he was able to “play with the junk around” – the first generation of personal computers left behind by his parents. He grew up “the first child in his primary school to use in an assignment from a word processor”.
