Evangeline Lilly is a popular Canadian actress. The girl became famous after the release of the TV series “Lost”, where she played one of the main roles. Later she appeared in films about The Hobbit and superhero films about Ant-Man.
Nicole Evangeline Lilly was born on August 3, 1979, in the small Canadian town of Fort Saskatchewan. Evangeline and two younger sisters of the girl grew up in a very religious family, while his father taught economics and his mother worked as a cosmetic consultant.
The girl was fond of sports, she mainly liked skating and snowboarding. As a child, Evangeline did not even dream of becoming a film actress – due to the Christian beliefs of her parents, there was no TV in the family. Unable to withstand the strict foundations of the family, at the age of ten, the girl decided to leave her hometown. Up to this point, she has already managed to change three schools.
Since childhood, Evangeline Lilly dreamed of helping people, so as a teenager she traveled a lot around the world as part of volunteer organizations. The future actress has visited fourteen countries as a volunteer, once she had to go to the Philippine jungle and live there in a grass hut.
Before the world recognized Lilly as an actress, she changed several professions. At one time she worked as a waitress and then shifted to a flight attendant at Royal Aviation. Thanks to the flights, she managed to perfectly learn French. Then Evangeline Lilly entered the University of British Columbia – the girl wanted to continue her missionary work on a more professional level.
Once on the street, an employee of the famous Ford model agency approached her and offered to try her hand at being a model. For Evangeline, the modeling business was not of particular interest, but to pay for her studies, she agreed to sign a contract. This was followed by a move to Vancouver, participation in fashion shows, and filming. Evangeline starred in commercials. At the same time, the girl never considered herself a real model.
Films
Evangeline Lilly’s acting career began in 2002 with cameo roles. The actress has performed in such films and TV series as Smallville, Freddie vs. Jason, Lizzie Mcguire, and Royal Hospital.
Lilly’s breakthrough career was her work on the TV series Lost. The actress played one of the central and crucial roles – the girl Kate Austin, who survived the plane crash along with other characters.
Before filming began, the actress almost lost her role, because she could not get a work visa to the United States. But in the end, the problem was resolved, and the girl arrived at the place, one day late.
Interestingly, the performers were only given the script for the next episode of the series. And since there were numerous deaths in the multi-part tape, the stars did not know who would be left without work in the future.
Matthew Fox, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Ian Somerhalder, and others became Lilly’s partners on the set for a long time. It is noteworthy that the hero of Ian quickly died in the series, but the public loved the character so much that the creators periodically returned Boone Carlisle during all seasons in flashbacks. Naturally, Somerhalder appeared in the last episode.
The series was a huge success and aired from 2004 to 2010. The cult film has won numerous Emmy and Golden Globe awards: the actress herself has thirteen nominations.
In 2008, with the cooperation of the actress, two movies were published at once – “The Lord of the Storm” and “Hostages of Death”. After the end of Lost, Evangeline Lilly planned to leave acting and devote her life to volunteering.
Despite this, in 2011 she acted in the movie Real Steel. Two years later, one after another, the films “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” were published – the continuation of the line “The Hobbit, or There and Back Again.” The movies themselves are prequels to The Lord of the Rings.
Lilly played the role of Tauriel, a forest elf, who belongs to the trackers, but the girl’s social status is lower than that of Arwen (Liv Tyler) and Legolas (Orlando Bloom). It is noteworthy that this character is not in the original trilogy of books. But they decided to add an elf girl to the pictures to dilute the scenario in which men predominate with a female character.
In the story, an unspoken sympathy arises between Tauriel and the dwarf Kiwi. The elf even saves Thorin Oakenshield’s nephew several times from death.
In 2015, watchers saw a star in Ant-Man, based on the Marvel comics. The actress performed the role of Hope van Dyne, the future Wasp and the daughter of Hank Pym, who invented the superhero costume. The main character went to Paul Rudd.
Personal life
Before participating in the cult series Evangeline Lilly was married to Canadian hockey player Murray Horn. On the set, she began an affair with colleague Dominic Monaghan, whom viewers know for his role as Charlie. The feelings turned out to be so serious that the actress got a divorce and in 2005 she celebrated her engagement with the actor on the island where the series was filmed. It was going to be the wedding, but the relationship went wrong, and in 2009 the couple broke up.
Since 2010, Evangeline Lilly has been married to Norman Cali, who worked as an assistant director of the famous television series. The couple is raising two children.
Kahekili Kali’s son was born in 2011. 4 years later, at the premiere of Ant-Man, the actress appeared with a rounded belly, showing the public that she was pregnant again. In October 2015, the lovers had a daughter. The girl’s name is unknown.
In one interview, the artist shared that she always dreamed of six children. Two already exist, and the girl wants to adopt four of them. Evangeline and Norman have already learned what it takes.
After two pregnancies, the green-eyed beauty quickly regains shape. Today, with a height of 168 cm, the girl’s weight is 50 kg. Lilly admitted that she does not go on special diets but practices a raw food diet, but such a diet is not suitable for everyone. The artist also trains 4-5 times a week, working on certain muscle groups on different days.
