The late 1990s – early 2000s

Beyoncé began her musical career as one of the members of the group Destiny’s Child, which was produced by her father. For the sake of a career in show business, young Beyonce Knowles had to constantly lose weight in order not to differ from other girls in the group. In those years, she loved extreme miniskirts, crop tops, slits at the waist, and a lot of glitters. Beyoncé often experimented with hairstyles, appearing in public with a shock of afro-curls in the style of the 1970s, then straightening her hair to glossy. In the first half of the 2000s, Beyoncé continued to perform in Destiny’s Child, but her style was becoming more individualistic. Beyoncé loved gold and glitter – a lot of glitter. Her arsenal included asymmetrical skirts, bustier dresses, fashionable and in 2016 slip dresses, draperies, high slits, and revealing necklines. It was a time when Beyoncé style, which we know today, was formed.

2005-2010

By the mid-2000s, Beyoncé was already pursuing her solo career. Success was not long in coming. The singer received a record number of Grammy awards, and her albums sold in a matter of seconds, going platinum. Beyoncé’s life was changing and with it her style. So, the daring mini-length was replaced by elegant long evening dresses. Beyoncé increasingly began to appear in silhouette fish dresses, emphasizing the seductive figure of the singer.

2011-2016

By 2011, Beyoncé had already become a world star and was able to afford to devote time to her personal life. So, on January 7, 2012, Beyonce gave birth to a daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. During her pregnancy, the American pop diva often chose feminine knitted maxi dresses that accentuated her new figure, but after leaving maternity leave, she increasingly began to try on “naked” dresses. So, at the Ball of the Costume Institute in 2015, Beyonce appeared in a translucent look, decorated with crystals and a long train of Givenchy Haute Couture, and for the presentation of the documentary about herself “Life is like a dream” in 2013 she chose a nude dress with a transparent neckline, Elie Saab Couture. Also, Beyoncé received the prestigious CFDA in the Style Icon category in 2016.

Beyoncé now

Now Beyoncé has turned her name into a recognizable brand. She is admired, people want to cooperate with her, she inspires designers and, most importantly, loves and accepts herself for who she is. Beyoncé’s style has changed noticeably over 20 years – so from a young girl in shiny mini dresses, she turned into Queen B, who knows how to present herself. So, at the premiere of The Lion King in Los Angeles, she shone in the image of Alexander McQueen – a fitted jacket, completely embroidered with crystals and a translucent skirt with a high slit at the hip. Meanwhile, for the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios, the singer chose a gold Yousef Aljasmi silhouette dress, and at the 2018 Grammy ceremony, she tried on a velvet sophisticated outfit from Lebanese designer Nicholas Lebrun.
