The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

The first truly major role of Emma Watson after the end of filming in “Harry Potter” fell into a youth melodrama about growing up, depression, and the struggle for their place in life. “It’s Good to Be Quiet” is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky, filmed by the author himself. Watson’s company was made up of other rising stars at that time – Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. And in the background, eminent adults flashed: Paul Rudd, Dylan McDermott, and others. The film turned out to be the same as the novel – light, sincere, sincere, making you plunge into your youth and rejoice in the moments that remain in your memory forever.

It’s Good to Be Quiet is the story of Charlie, a high school student in Pittsburgh, one of the main cultural and intellectual centers in the United States. He is shy and has a hard time making friends. Therefore, the guy gradually falls into depression, while continuing to behave “normally” with abusive classmates. One day he meets high school students Sam (whose role was brilliantly played by Watson) and Patrick, who unexpectedly accept Charlie into their company. They show the downtrodden quiet man all the delights of youth. When Charlie’s social circle changes, so do his attitude toward life. The guy grows up in front of the viewer.

This Is the End (2013)

More than one generation has grown up on comedies with James Franco, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, and Jonah Hill. The film, the original title of which translates to “This is the End,” brought all these actors together on one screen. Moreover, here they play themselves. Emma Watson also appears as Emma Watson. It should be said right away that the film is crazy. And with this role, the actress proved that she can be not only cute, but also stunningly hilarious, and even nervous. Written and directed by the duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. True, the script is loudly said, since about half of the film is an improvisation by the actors. Rogen himself later admitted this.

In the story, Jay Baruchel arrives in Los Angeles to visit Seth Rogen, his old friend, and colleague. He invites the guy to James Franco’s housewarming party. Many Hollywood celebrities gather there, including the aforementioned actors, as well as Michael Cera, Channing Tatum, Craig Robinson, and even Rihanna. Naturally, there is a lot of alcohol, various substances, loud music, and other attributes of a loud party at a party. Baruchel becomes uncomfortable, and he and Rogen go to the store for cigarettes. And suddenly the end of the world begins. Now it’s every man for himself, and it doesn’t matter at all what fees and filmography they had. From that moment on, “Apocalypse in Hollywood” turns into the craziest movie ever.

Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Over time, Emma Watson began to receive leading roles in films (for example, “Colony of Dignistan”, and “Eclipse”). But the first truly stellar role in the film for wide distribution was the role of Disney Princess Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”. And even though there were strange rumors and news around this film, even though the Disney studio may have gone too far with experiments here, Watson nevertheless worked confidently and with dignity. After all, the actress is half-French, so it was easier for her to get used to the image. No wonder it was for this role that Emma won the MTV Award for Best Actor or Actress, beating Hugh Jackman (Logan) and James McAvoy (Split). The costumes and sets in the film are also top-notch. Not bad and the Beast.

In the story, a beautiful girl named Belle lives in a deep village. She is not like everyone else. She loves to read, helps her father-inventor, dreams of adventure, and has great love. But Belle is not going to waste time on just anyone either, even if she is told that it is better and more beautiful to find the huntsman Gaston in the village. Meanwhile, Prince Adam lives in the city and was bewitched by the Sorceress for being rude and self-righteous. To remove the spell, he needs to learn kindness and love. Moreover, he must do this before the last petal falls from the rose presented by the Sorceress. By the will of fate, Belle and Adam’s paths once intersect.

Little Women (2019)

The film is based on the novel of the same name by the American writer Louise May Alcott, published in 1868. “Little Women” is a cult novel in America about the life and fate of four talented March sisters – Margaret, Joe, Beth, and Emmy. For a century and a half, this work has been adapted for theater, opera, serials, cartoons, and almost a dozen films were filmed on it. The novel is set during the Civil War in the United States, but the problems faced by girls, such as first love, bitter disappointment, and finding their place in life, remain relevant to this day. Therefore, the film found its audience.

Naturally, the fresh adaptation of the novel was compared to the previous one, which came out in 1994, had the same star cast, and was very successful. Saoirse Ronan, starring Joe’s sister, was inevitably compared to Winona Ryder. Their vision of the character was very different. Both actresses, by the way, received Oscar nominations for these works. Emma Watson played the role of sophisticated Meg, played by Trini Alvarado in 1994. It’s hard to say who handled this character better. However, the image of Watson turned out to be much deeper. The 2019 Little Women is directed and written by Greta Gerwig, who wrote and directed Lady Bird, which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Film (Musical or Comedy).
