The cinema landscape is expanding by the minute – new projects are being announced and put into the production process. Therefore it is no surprise that one of the most prominent Hollywood stars is working as hard as ever to keep his high status in the industry. Of course, it is none other than Will Smith himself. The man, whose career began as a rapper, now has been tackling big and small screens for nearly thirty years. But what does he have in mind for his upcoming projects we are yet to see?
As of this moment, there are several upcoming acting jobs listed on Mr. Smith’s IMDb page:
- “Spies in Disguise” – an animated action movie coming out on Christmas;
- “Gemini Man” – action/sci-fi film coming out this fall;
- “Bad Boys for Life” – the next installment in the “Bad Boys” franchise, set to hit the screens next January;
- “King Richard” – a project in the pre-production stages;
- “Bright 2” – an announced sequel to the 2017 fantasy hit “Bright”;
- “Bad Boys 4” – another announced sequel, this comes for the upcoming “Bad Boys for Life”.
Fun for the whole family
“Spies in Disguise” is an animated movie that tells the amusing story of the world’s best spy Lance Sterling, who is turned into a pigeon due to a mishap in a young and aspiring tech officer Walters laboratory. Will Smith, who plays the spy, puts his vocal gifts on full display. Now it is up to Lance to guide Walter to save the world. Some serious action and hilarious incidents are going to take center stage for sure.
Facing the only opponent worthy – himself
“Gemini Man” is an action movie where not only is Will Smith the guy the audiences root for, but also the one moviegoers would wish the good guy never meets. As the title probably lets one know, “Gemini Man” follows a middle-aged government assassin, portrayed by Will Smith, who has to evade a hitman of his own. Of course, it is no secret that the hitman after Will Smith’s character is the younger version of himself. So essentially Will Smith is facing Will Smith. At the very core, the movie consists of action, some science talk, and promised good fighting scenes.
Make room for some good bad boys
“Bad Boys for Life” promises good laughs, and for those, who have enjoyed the previous two “Bad Boys” movies, this is going to be just as enjoyable if not more. The last time the audiences saw their favorite cops Mike (Will Smith) and Marcus (Martin Lawrence) was in 2003, but this does not mean any less fun. “Bad Boys for Life” is going to revolve around both cops working together to kick some drug cartel behind and make the streets a better place.
Not just an actor though
It is important to remember that Will Smith is not only an amazing action and comic actor but also a producer. In “King Richard” Smith will play the father of Serena and Venus Williams, portraying the road to the greatness of both tennis superstars and what part in it played their father Richard Williams. So far Will Smith is the only name attached to the project on its IMDb page.
Work yet to be done
Two other sequels – “Bright 2” and “Bad Boys 4” – have been announced, but not much information is known about the two projects. “Bright 2” is going to be the sequel to the fantasy movie “Bright” which tackles race issues in the fictional version of Los Angeles. “Bad Boys 4” on the other hand plans to be another laugh-inducing “Bad Boys” movie, but that is as much as the general public knows so far.
