You can argue if you want, but you have to admit – This episode of Black Mirror wasn’t the best for a TV show with 94% positive ratings even if you haven’t watched it.
But don’t worry, there won’t be many spoilers in this blog post. (In case you want to test for yourself if this episode was that bad)
The Rise and Fall of Expectations
The big and exciting question: Who was Miley on the TV show? Well… The answer is something you might’ve thought of.
Miley Cyrus was starring as a mainstream music artist named Ashley O. What a surprise, huh? A music artist playing a music artist.
Right from the start, people who were excited, ready for a surprise, and that great rush of dopamine all got this huge turn-off. But hey, if you liked Miley Cyrus when she was known as Hannah Montana, then you might be not that disappointed about this “surprise” because the character Ashley O kind of acted like good old Hannah Montana in some ways.
But, if you don’t find the character Ashley O being like Hannah Montana in a way as a plus, then kudos and claps to you, because there’s another fishy thing about that.
You can sense the feeling that the build-up of events and their consequences happening around Ashley/Miley/Hannah do feel like Hannah Montana’s personality in Miley’s old-school TV show “Hannah Montana”.
Also, the overall picture and tone in this Miley’s Black Mirror feature might feel like her own show sometimes, if you’ve watched or you started watching it after reading the last paragraph.
From a critical point of view, it seems unattractive and unoriginal, of course, it can be exciting somehow, but that won’t fulfill that excitement completely unless you’re a die-hard fan of Miley Cyrus.
So… Is It The Worst Episode?
Yes… Or actually, one of the worst episodes if not the worst one.
Why? Simply because of the lack of creativity and not bringing something new and unexpected. Because people had excitement when they heard about Miley Cyrus being on this show, one of the most well-known singers in the world going on a highly rated TV show!
And all that turned out to be another washed-out TV show episode featuring a worldwide known person.
