The prominent movie that Garfield participated in in the year 2017 was the biographical show ‘Inhale’ in which he played the role of Robin Cavendish. A young man who has polio. Before shooting the movie he mingled with Polio victims and even spent time with Cavendish’s wife and his son. Angels in America transfers to Broadway in March 2018 for an eighteen-week limited season at the Neil Simon Theatre. Garfield returns as Prior and is joined by most of the London cast. Peter Marks in the Washington Post review of the show pointed out that “there is nothing that Garfield has done that can fully prepare you for the star-powered dexterity of his Prior”. and described Garfield’s acting as the “soul of the show”. In 2022, Garfield got into Time’s Most 100 Influential People in the world. The same year he was in the Dustin Lance Black miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven from Jon Krakauer’s book. For the role, he has been nominated for his first Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
After the acting hiatus, Garfield will next appear in a romance film We Live In Time to be directed by John Crowley with Florence Pugh. He will star with Julia Roberts in Luca Guadagnino’s thriller called After the Hunt and with his own family in The Magic Faraway Tree, a fantasy film based on Enid Blyton’s books of the same title.
This he did to such an extent that he was awarded the Tony Award for the Best Actor in a Play.
