How serious is the injury?

Back in May McGregor posted a photo of himself on Instagram, the photo showed his left hand bandaged. Conor McGregor wrote that he sustained the injury during a sparring session, but he didn’t tell if the injury was serious.

After that, McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh informed the public that the UFC champion underwent surgery.

What happened?

Kavanagh told that it was sparring. “He just clipped a guy in the back of the head and damaged his hand. But he went to see a really good hand surgeon.”

Kavanagh confirmed that surgery was necessary and that McGregor was in the process of undergoing therapy.

Coach told that it was great seeing Conor McGregor move again and that he looked very well, and he just clipped his hand. But Kavanagh confirmed that McGregor is taking it very well, he knows that it is a step back, but they are ready to take five steps forward.

Will he fight again?

Conor McGregor’s coach believes that he will fight again.

Kavanagh told that he would like to see Conor matched up after his return with Nate Diaz and Justin Gaethje. Coach added that it doesn’t matter to him who McGregor fought as long as Conor was excited and motivated, and of course pushing himself hard.

The last fight, in which McGregor took part, was in October. Current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted him in the fourth round of their UFC 229 bout. In 2016 McGregor won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez, since then it was Conor’s first bout.

At the fight with Khabib McGregor’s entourage’s behavior was deplorable to Nurmagomedov’s team. Behavior was justifiably slammed by UFC president, Diana White.

McGregor has done much to help lift the profile of the UFC. Despite that White was dismayed with Conor’s actions in the last 12-18 months, McGregor knows how much he is worth to the UFC franchise.

In October 2018 McGregor lost his title due to inactivity. When he had his time off from the octagon, Conor fought a lucrative boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. He scored a TKO win in the 10th round.
