Indian-origin stars have conquered Hollywood with their talent and beauty. Today the whole world is watching them. They win various titles and the most prestigious awards in the United States and tabloids often write about their interesting life. We have collected for you the top 6 most famous Hollywood stars of Indian origin.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka – the first Indian celebrity – signed a contract with a major agency to promote in Hollywood and began to explore a new market with great determination.

Having started as a singer, Priyanka came to prominence for her roles in “Baza Quantico”.

Today Chopra is a UNICEF ambassador, a major philanthropist, the face of many advertising campaigns, a producer (together with his mother who runs Purple Pebble Pictures), an activist, a publicist (The New York Times), a singer, a model, and gossip star. Priyanka is friends with Meghan Markle, attends status events, and pleases the audience with a relationship (now officially registered) with Nick Jonas.

Like any Indian woman, Priyanka emphasizes her natural beauty with bright makeup and light styling (the natives of this country don’t need more: their hair is naturally thick and shiny). Not only designer clothes but also various society services (mainly charity) help to complement the image of Bollywood actresses.

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai is perhaps the most famous Indian-origin actress. She won the title of “Miss World” and, having dropped out of her studies at the Faculty of Architecture, became a model. Even in her youth, the girl managed to collaborate with Vogue magazine and Pepsi.

As an actress, Aishwarya began not in Bollywood, but in Collywood (another famous film district in southern India). Now she has starred in more than 45 films, and she is still in demand not only in her home country but also in Hollywood. Mostly Aishwarya plays in Hindi, but we know her for such films as “The Spice Princess” and “Pink Panther-2”. Besides, the actress is actively involved in charity work. She supports the animal welfare organization PETA, which helps the visually impaired in India, and in 2004 she founded her own Aishwarya Rai Foundation, which helps the poor.

Anushka Sharma

32-year-old Anushka Sharma is one of the most famous and highest-paid actresses in India. The girl takes one award after another (including nominations from the Filmfare Awards – a film award comparable in India to an Oscar). Anushka was born into a military family, and, unlike many of her colleagues, although she worked as a model (somehow the girl even appeared on the cover of the American Maxim), she still managed to get an education. She has tried herself in a variety of genres: from romantic comedies to psychological thrillers. Like Aishwarya Rai, Anushka is actively involved in PETA’s initiatives, for which the organization solemnly awarded her the title of “Person of the Year” in 2017.

Freida Pinto

Freida Pinto cannot yet boast a list of 50 films like her colleagues. But in her small portfolio there are such world-famous paintings as “Slumdog Millionaire” (by the way, this is the debut of the actress), “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, “War of the Gods: Immortals”, and in 2018 there was also work in the Mowgli project. The girl is fluent in English and has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

Freida Pinto is a versatile actress: she looks equally convincing in costume dramas, blockbusters, and festival films. Pinto is good both on glossy covers and in interviews about the fate of cinema, she gets along with Woody Allen and with large brands such as L’Oréal.

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam is from India’s respected Kapoor dynasty of actors. Sonam attracts the whole world not only with her talent but also with her ability to dress well. The girl is adorned in the USA so much. Even the singer Beyoncé invited her to star in her video Hymn for the Weekend.

M. Night Shyamalan

One of the most controversial directors in Hollywood was born in India but grew up in the States. When Shyamalan was a year old, his family moved to Philadelphia. His wife is Indian, the children have Indian names. But he is a real American. He translated his middle name Neliatta (“Night”) into English, becoming Knight, and grew up on the films of George Lucas. Night calls Hitchcock and Kubrick his idols. However, Shyamalan’s film characters are partly related to the family.

“My grandparents were classic Indian old people. Grandma put on so much makeup on her face that she looked like an actress from a kabuki theater. My grandfather likes to scare me by taking his jaw out of his mouth and putting it in a glass”, – the director said in an interview with The New Times.
