Bob Downey an American actor and producer has the following achievements, Oscar awards for the best supporting actor, BAFTA awards, Golden Globe awards twice, and SAG awards twice. He has also been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award as well.

A picture of Robert Downey Jr

Transferred from the biographical epic motion picture Chaplin by Richard Attenborough released in the year 1991. He was able to win the title of BAFTA Film Award for Best Actor apart from being nominated for the Academy Award in the same category and the Golden Globe award. In the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. Tropic Thunder, the unnecessary war comedy film of 2008 cast him to play a man-child for which he got his second nomination in the category of Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Apart from that he was also nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Famous in many aspects as the king of the silver screen Robert Downey Jr is one of the talented and energetic celebrities in Hollywood who got the Oscars nominations two times in his acting life. Based on the earlier discussions, the following is the breakdown of those roles that accorded these nominations to him and his acting career.

Chaplin (1992) – the best actor of the year award

In ‘’Chaplin’’, the character portrayed in this picture is played by Robert Downey Jr. The director of this picture is Richard Attenborough.

Role and performance

The character to be played by Downey was Chaplin and this implied that Downey had to be out of character. Not only in terms of the movements and the words which Chaplin did not say but also the psychological Chaplin. Some lauded this new look that was accorded to him as been given a Chaplin touch that was to remind everyone that he was serious with the character.

Critical acclaim

In ‘Chaplin’ Downey does get the applause and what is more, his first Academy Award nomination in the category of the best actor. This it was said was one of the best imitations of Chaplin as it brought the comedy, the tragedy and the romance in the right measure required successfully.

My favourite comedy movie is Tropic Thunder (2008) Nomination for supporting actor. In Ben Stiller’s directed movie “Tropic Thunder”. Robert Downey Jr changes his skin colour to black and becomes a Vietnamese War hero when method acting gets the better of him and decides to do so. This movie is a parody of Hollywood and the motion picture industries.

Role and performance

The film’s character, Kirk Lazarus, is emotional and sceptical, but the humorist and courage of the actor appear in the show. In the same manner, from the outside, the show can also be easily defined as a multi-level performance that has a satire towards the attempts of the acting career and Kornfeld being an actor himself and all the nonsense that the show portrays.

Critical Acclaim

Once more in “Tropic Thunder” Downey stepped out of his character again and everyone liked him for the second time. He got a nomination for the OSCAR, this time in the CAT. of Supporting Actor. As for the shows that were done, some of the pleasant jokes and satirical remarks, which were done, were also mentioned and included in the show.

Legacy and Impact

Some of them include:

Versatility

Some of these are some of the roles that have made Downey get nominations for Oscars and all these prove that he can act in drama and comedy.

Career resurgence

The nominations especially after he began to show his issues were a turning point in his career. “Chaplin” helps people to alter their perception of him and start to believe that he can do drama and “Tropic Thunder”. Makes people start believing that Ben Stiller is ready to take a risk and get paid for it.

Influence

Most people in the film industry have had very good references from Downey’s experience and believe that talent if associated with hard work, does pay.
