Passionate about dancing

In the ancestors of Zoe – Jamaicans, Indians, Libyans, and even Irish. But her mother and father are natives of Puerto Rican and Dominican. Therefore, the star has such a complicated name – Zoe Yadira Saldanha Nazario. But we know her as Zoe Saldana. The place of birth of the actress is the town of Passaic, which is in the state of New Jersey, it was there that she was born on June 19, 1978. Then the family moved to Queens, New York.

Zoe was still a junior high school student when she lost her father: he was the victim of a car accident. The mother decided that it would be better for him and her daughter to return to the historical homeland of their deceased husband. Therefore, they left for the Dominican Republic. In this country, the creative biography of Zoe Saldana began: the girl comprehended the basics of classical and Latin American dances.

And when the prestigious school was left behind, the family settled again in Queens: in America, Zoe had more chances to prove herself in the acting profession.

These difficult first steps

The Brooklyn troupe, with its highly social performances and participation in the performances of the Youth Theater, became a good school for aspiring performers. The first test on the set took place in 1999 (it was one of the episodes of the cult series Law & Order).

A year later, she managed to star in a full-length movie. The musical Pro scene (a kind of forerunner to Step Forward) was certainly not a blockbuster. But the actress Zoe Saldana has a major role as the dancer Eva here.

But the pictures “Terminal” or “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” no one will call little-known. Let Saldana have only episodes in them, but these were already box-office projects, and the girl began to be recognized. And one could forget about the theatrical stage and completely switch to the cinema adored by the actress.

Throughout the Universe

In 2009, the actress Zoe Saldana got the central female role in the film incarnation of the cult series. Star Trek’s Uhura is sweet but quite competent. She breathes unevenly towards the serious and always grim-focused Spock. And he does not seem to notice the suffering of the astronaut girl. Abrams managed to create the perfect performing ensemble, of which Saldana became the adornment. No wonder she was awarded the “People’s Prize” – “Best New Movie Actress”.

An Oscar for best makeup and well-deserved audience success led to the filming of the sequel, which was released three years after the story began. In “Retribution” the members of the close-knit crew had a very, very charismatic opponent (he was brilliantly played by Benedict Cumberbatch). And the life of the heroine Saldana (as well as her lover) was in danger. Dilogy has found its fans, and they want to “continue the banquet.”

After Avatar

“Avatar” turned out to be a brilliant experiment – the wizard Cameron applied the latest technology to create a fictional planet and creatures inhabiting this fascinating world. We do not see the real face of the actress, but we can only guess her features in the guise of the majestic princess Neytiri. But the more difficult the acting task! Now we know for sure that the film biography of Zoe Saldana will be replenished with more than one sequel to Avatar.

In the meantime, she has been successfully working with other directors. Zoe’s comedic talent manifested itself in the remake of the British film Death at a Funeral, but in Guardians of the Galaxy, she portrayed the cold-blooded killer Gamora, who becomes a member of an unusual team: a dashing guy (Chris Pratt), a thug, a tree-like creature and an anthropomorphic raccoon Rocket. The premiere of the sequel to the film is in May 2017.

Saldana also advertises lingerie for the famous fashion house “Calvin Klein”, since the figure allows it.
