Few would have been interested in the biography of Daniel Kaluuya if it were not for the creativity of comedian Jordan Peele, who created and filmed the horror “Get Out”. The result of the work was the delight of critics and viewers and interesting new proposals to the actor from the directors.

The beginning of the creative path

Daniel Kaluuya (Kaluuya) was born on February 24, 1989, in London. In a family of immigrants from Uganda, he became the second child. Very soon my father was forced to return to his homeland. He could not get a visa for the return entry, so he very rarely saw his daughter and son. Jamal’s mother and her children settled in Kentish.

Daniel’s creative biography began at the local Anna Sher Theater School. A boy nine years old played on stage and wrote plays. Dan studied at the London College of St. Aloysius.

The path to the cinema world

The aspiring actor premiered in 2006 in the BBC drama Shoot the Messenger. After participating in the controversial film, the aspiring performer was offered to join the original artistic cast of the youth show “Skins”. Posh Kenneth became his character. A TV drama about the life of high school students has become an excellent school for novice actors and opened the doors to the big cinema. Kaluuya wrote the script for several episodes of the first and second seasons of the series.

In total, the actor participated in eleven episodes of the picture. After starting his film career, Kaluuya continued to play on the stage of the Royal Court Theater and constantly improve.

In 2008, Daniel was asked to play the character of Errol Harris in The Silent Witness, a detective series. The following year, he became Declan in the Lewis police series.

Confession

At the same time, the aspiring actor played several unnamed black street boys in the television series “This is what Mitchell and Webb look like” and appeared in the image of a fourteen-year-old teenager Cass in the full-length biographical film of the same name about the life of Cass Pennant.

From 2009 to 2011, he starred with Kaluya quite a lot. Difficult teenagers were not offered to him because of his age: the artist grew up. The directors began to give him leading roles. Kaluuya’s character Michael Fry from Psychoville has appeared in eleven episodes.

In the image of Barclay from Planet of the Dead, the artist can be seen in an episode of the cult telenovela Doctor Who. Bingham “Bing” Madsen’s performance in the fantasy series “Black Mirror” earned positive reviews from critics.

The performer participated in the Fifteen Million Merit series. Since 2010, Dan has returned to the image of a teenager again. This time he transformed into Mo one of the key figures in the psychological thriller Chat.

Another notable work in big cinema is Special Agent Tucker in Oliver Parker’s comedy film Agent Johnny English: Reboot.

Iconic roles

In 2013, Kaluya took part in the work on the parody action movie Kick-Ass 2. The title and content are completely identical.

The next shooting took place for the neo-noir thriller “Welcome to the Trap”. In 2016, the main character in his debut project was proposed to the actor by American director Jordan Peel. The detective-satirical horror film “Get Out” has won several prestigious film awards.

To the performer Chris Washington, he drew the attention of film critics in the States. It was recognized that all the tension, humor, and rage with the horror of the picture was the merit of a brilliant young performer from Britain. Kaluuya’s play was recognized by the workshop.

As a rising star, he was awarded the BAFTA in 2017. In mid-fall 2016, Daniel auditioned for Black Panther. The eighteen-episode project was planned as part of an adventure cycle for the Marvel universe.

The action takes place in the fictional African country of Wakanda, created by director Ryan Coogler and screenwriter Joe Robert Cole for their stunning blend of customs and traditions across the continent. Black actors with good physical shape were selected to participate in the film.

Daniel’s character is the best friend and confidant of the young king of the Black Panther country, T’Challa, named W’Kabi. He is at the head of the royal army and loves the proud head of Wakanda’s female special forces, Okoye. The premiere gathered full houses. The rental began in February 2018.
