Like every summer, a lot of expectations rise, expectations about everything summer 2019 can give us, including new music.

And as always, new releases are expected from artists – even some good old pop artists to come out with a track for the summer like every other year, so we can have a song to play on repeat when making our way to the beach.

She Did It Again

Thank god we didn’t have to wait long for that hit because Katy Perry recently came out with her new track, “Never Really Over,” hoping it to be among the best songs of summer 2019.

Pop song “Never Really Over” is a true pop song of summer – it’s a ballad about a relationship that refuses to die.

Also, a fact worth knowing is that the song features a sample of the single “Love You Like That” which was released by Norwegian singer Dagny back in 2017.

Perry’s new track was produced by DEM producer Zedd and the track has a chorus. Even though it’s wordy, it’ still sounds like a typical Perry-style earworm.

What’s Hiding in The Lyrics?

The lyrics of “Never Really Over” spiked some discussion and people started wondering what they are really about. Maybe Taylor Swift? Or someone else?

Many people and even I believe that the song’s lyrics are about her on-and-off relationship with Orlando Bloom and that has caused fans all around the world to try to decode the lyrics to find a deeper meaning behind the words Katy is saying.

Also, there were discussions that the song was about Taylor Swift.

You might wonder – why? Mostly because Swift added the track to her Apple Music playlist: “Playlist by ME!” and also many fans noticed that Katy Perry had liked the latest tweet from Taylor Swift, which was a picture of her new cat.

However, if we go back to the song, it could be defined as an electro-pop dance song designed to motivate people, using Perry’s soaring vocal chops.

A motivational song about an unstable relationship.

Even if she is singing about Orlando Bloom, the message that this track brings still is about love being magnetic.

In other words, no matter what, if it’s real love – despite everything, the universe will continue to find ways to bring you together.

Taking that in mind, which version seems more realistic to you?

Is the song about Orlando Bloom or Taylor Swift?

The Chances Are Small

By considering everything, the lyrics, music video, and social media activities, it’s hard to believe that Perry’s new song can be about Taylor Swift.

But hey, everyone’s allowed to have their opinion, and what if Katy dedicated these words to Swift?

‘’And if I think it over, maybe you’ll be coming over again’’

If you’re not sure, decide for yourself by giving the song a listen.
